Tour description

Assyrian city of Harrānu, meaning 'cross-roads' in the Akkadian language, located Southeast Turkey 10 km from the Syrian border, it is mentioned in the Book of Genesis as the home of Terah, father of Abraham and as Abraham’s temporary home. It was a major ancient city occupied by many civilizations since its inception around 3000 BC.

Harran is today known more for its unusual “beehive” adobe houses- design unchanged for thousands of years. Their design and construction makes them noticeably cooler inside.

Harran is a place where Abraham the Prophet spent several years. It used to be known as Helenopolis that was burned and destroyed by Mongolian invaders in 1260.

Included among the archaeological finds are those of the oldest Islamic university, city walls dating from the first and second century, six gates and a citadel.

Later head to Halfeti to take your own private boat and cruise one of the significant rivers of ancient Mesopotamia- river Euphrates.

Relax and unwind while enjoying sights of Roman Castle, Caves, and Savasan Village.

Savasan Village or Old Halfeti what is partially submerged since 1990s under the waters behind the dam on the Euphrates at Birecik, used to be called once as ''Hidden Paradise'' with the orchards at the hillside of the Euphrates, yard-type stone houses, and flower gardens.
